Happy New Year to those of you who celebrate Rosh Hashanah! I’ll take my “Jewish by marriage” status to start again, welcoming a new year of sorts. There’s always something happy about a new beginning, a refresh.
It’s been a week full of tears, anxiety, excitement and joy. There’s just so much change in my life right now, sometimes it’s hard to process. The new school year, the new weekday routine, the new job, the 12 day countdown to my first big store event with SO MUCH LEFT TO DO…Yikes. We’re getting through it decently. Not perfectly, but definitely decently. I keep telling myself that every morning is an opportunity to try harder and to do better, and it helps.
I haven’t had fun blog links to share recently because, well, I haven’t been reading many blogs. When I do have a few minutes to catch up, I’ve been mostly uninspired. Those bloggers I love most have been vacationing, enjoying life and rarely writing, while old daily reads seem to have gone over the deep end into sponsored content overload. But the good news is I’m still reading books! I just started this new novel by the author of Me Before You and so far it’s wonderful. Am I missing anything? Any blogs you’re loving?
There’s also been a distinct lack of delicious cocktail-making in my life these past few months. Truthfully the only things I’ve been concocting on a regular basis are kale salads (this one was particularly good) and the occasional hearty, addictive pasta. What have you been drinking? I could use some spirited inspiration! (Lest I give the impression I’m killing it on the healthy, simple front, I did have a fairly major Madewell final sale slip up. This dress has been haunting me for months and now it’s finally mine, along with a few of its friends. Oops!)
A life that involves launching a new business while raising two gorgeous but busy kids makes for a rather dull blog, I’m afraid, but it makes for a good deal of happiness in the real world, and in this new year, I’m wishing for more of that, readership be damned.
Wishing you all a happy, relaxing weekend. It’s the last work-free weekend for me for the next few months so I’m going to do my best to sloth around and do as little as possible. Maybe I’ll finally dust off the cocktail shaker again!
