I’m so happy Friday is finally here! This has been a crazy work week. I have been at home in San Diego, then in Los Angeles, then Santa Barbara, back home and now flying to San Francisco in a few hours. I’m craving down time snuggled up with J and the kids in our pajamas, but that will have to wait until after I get back from this little weekend trip.
Judging from Facebook, Instagram and blog posts, every single person I know is on some kind of juice cleanse or Whole 30 diet, but if you want to take the weekend off, this looks like the perfect winter cocktail: clementines, Triple Sec and tequila? Yum!
A few things I enjoyed reading this week:
- The most fascinating, tragic look at the filming of Lindsey Lohan’s latest film- a must-read for people obsessed with movie-making and celebrity.
- An artist residency in motherhood- love her mission statement, including this line, “Despite a legacy of public artist/parents it still seems to be a commonly held belief that being an engaged mother and serious artist are mutually exclusive endeavors. I don’t believe or want to perpetuate this. I like to imagine the two roles not as competing directions but to view them, force them gently if necessary, to inform each other.”
And a song I can’t stop playing obsessively:
Azure Ray/Sleep (the entire album is amazing!)
Finally, I just wanted to thank you all for your comments on my last post. I haven’t had a chance to respond yet, but I read all of them and felt so grateful for this little community of smart, thoughtful women I’ve managed to connect with through this blog (and men! I know at least a handful of men who drop by here!). Please know, your comments, emails and texts are the reason I still love writing here. And the best comment ever came from my friend Ruthie who texted me that I was not, in fact, middle-aged, but instead a “young sexy chicken!” Ha!
Have a wonderful weekend!
