It’s Friday, Friday! Hooray! We don’t have much on the agenda this weekend which is so welcome after a busy week. I want chocolate chip waffles with my kids, a night in watching movies with J., and some outdoor exploring with the kids (it’s supposed to be 80 here again tomorrow).
Here are a few things that will keep me busy this weekend. And please share with me what’s on your radar or any fun weekend plans. I’d love to hear!

I discovered this graphic novel from the author of The Time Traveler’s Wife at a bookstore the other day and fell in love- mystery, books, a Winnebago that travels only at night and is filled with every book you’ve ever read- I had to have it. It’s a short read, and will eventually be part of a larger series. For people who love books, this is a must-have. Another book I recently finished and truly enjoyed was The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach. Trust me, you don’t have to be a baseball fan to race through it like I did!

Right now, Bon Iver, Ryan Adams’ Ashes and Fire, and Betty Wright: The Movie, featuring The Roots (an amazing find from our local indie music store) are on constant replay. I’m also still loving every single 8tracks.com mix made by Kate of wit + delight. (And I do really love the last mix I made of newer dark indie tracks, although my dear husband told me he is tired of hearing it played here so many times!)

When we have a Friday night at home, we love to make our own pizza with the kids and customize toppings for everyone’s taste. I know the kids won’t eat this gorgeous pizza but I’m swooning- egg, leeks and smoked mozzarella. Yum!
If you’re trying to stay a little healthier, I just made this curry noodle bowl which was so delicious. And I am definitely making this potato vindaloo later in weekend. (Do any of you have the Plenty cookbook? It looks awesome.)

If you’re lucky enough to get to the theater this weekend, I LOVED “Young Adult.” Charlize Theron is dark, hilarious and insanely gorgeous, even when she is hungover and lounging in sweats. I loved it so much I saw it twice, once alone, which was heavenly, and once with friends (full disclosure- J. didn’t like it- he found it totally uncomfortable.)
And on video, another 2011 fave was Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere”, and I am hoping to find out what the Downton Abbey buzz is about soon.
See you all next week. Wishing you fun and sunshine!

Chocolate chip waffles sound great! I have the cookbook Plenty and I love it. It was a Christmas gift and I have been making dishes out of it every week since I got it.
Wow… so much goodness packed into one post! Thank you!
Now I really want to see Young Adult (as well as Up in the Air for that matter… which I was reminded of when clicking your link)… In light of your disclosure, thinking this is maybe a “see with friends” movie {or alone
}.
Downtown Abbey… on my list to watch as well… and Somewhere- which I’ve yet to see!!
One of my resolutions (watch more movies) this year… Can you tell?? (only a few weeks in, but doing good so far)
Start with Somewhere, since it’s on DVD. It’s very atmospheric- not a ton of “story” but so good. And great music. And I really did love Young Adult. If a little raw honesty and discomfort doesn’t bother you, it’s terrific
Great post and think we have similar tastes. I’ll be back! (The Art of Fielding is up next on my nightstand…looking forward to it!)
thanks so much for stopping by!
